summary: In this class you'll learn beautiful patterns of strokes using the hands and arms to mimic the flowing movements of water. You'll also practice using your forearms and elbows to give a wide range of pressure from light to the beginnings of deep pressure. By learning to add variety to your massage and studying details of human anatomy you'll increase the effectiveness of your work. And through creative dance, observing nature, and partner yoga you'll awaken your natural ability to move gracefully and touch people with compassion.
This class is one part of a three-class series. It fulfills part of the requirements to achieve Advanced Certification as a Professional Practitioner of Kizuna Bodywork. It is an ideal continuing education class for experienced students and professionals who wish to enhance their massage and explore new techniques and approaches to bodywork. Practitioners of oil massage styles other than Kizuna Bodywork are also welcome to enroll. Experience studying or professionally practicing massage is recommended before enrolling in this class.

summary: In this class you'll learn a complete full-body massage routine for babies which has been proven safe, has been shown to have a wide range of benefits, and is endorsed by the International Association of Infant Massage. You will also study the factors which make baby massage very different from adult massage including babies' behavior states and nonverbal communication, the caregiver-child bonding process, and the development, physiology, and anatomy of infants.
After the training is complete you will have the option to spend the afternoon participating in an outreach program in which we visit a Tokyo-area orphanage and care for babies whose need for nurturing touch is particularly urgent and likely to be inadequately met. This class is a joint offering by Kizuna Bodywork and our sister organization Kizuna Baby. The class is primarily intended for professional massage practitioners and students, but parents and their babies are also welcome to attend.

Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue Class 1

duration: 4 days
location: Akigawa, Japan (near Tokyo)
teacher: Les May
See full description for more details.

summary: This is the first in a series of three Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue classes in which you will study techniques for safely and effectively providing your clients with deep pressure. The Kizuna Bodywork system includes no techniques requiring use of the hands, fingers, or thumbs to provide strong pressure. Instead it relies exclusively on the arms and elbows so you can avoid causing yourself the fatigue, pain, and injury most massage therapists experience. You will begin working deeply on nearly the entire length of the body right from this first class in the series. You will also practice combining deeper and lighter strokes in a flowing manner.
Although it is not required, it is also recommended you first take Kizuna Bodywork Advanced Class 1 before participating in this class so the advanced techniques with which the deep tissue techniques will be blended will already be familiar.
